The IH 986 coolant filter bracket blocks access to this coolant temp sensor. I drilled a hole in the bracket enabling a socket extension to slider through and then put the socket on to remove the old sensor. You could remove the bracket but the 2 bolts also hold on the regulator housing and coolant comes during out.
