#09180-35488 PTO Shaft Oil Seal

Using i narrow/thin blade regular screwdriver, simply place the blade of the screwdriver on the outside flange of the seal. Then use a small hammer to tap, tap, tap against the flange until the screwdriver lifts it and slides underneath of the flange. Then just tap the screwdriver along the perimeter, underneath the flange until the seal is lifted and removed. Have your replacement in hand, lubricated and ready to install. Then just slide it over your pre-cleaned PTO shaft and tap it in place to seal it, (if you have a PVC pipe or something similar that's the diameter of the seal flange, that will make the installation much easier as you can push the new seal in straight rather than side to side). I put an oil catch underneath my PTO and lost around a cup of oil during this process. I read somewhere where they recommend draining about a gallon of hydraulic fluid first but that's a waist of time and fluid. You don't lose enough to worry about. Just leave your container in place for about 24 hours to catch all the drippings once you're done.

I used a 12 inch long piece of 2.5 diameter pvc pipe to set the seal over the top of the pto output shaft. Tapping this pipe with a block of wood sets the seal easily. Thanks so much for your help in getting the right seal.

I just pulled the old one out with a screwdriver and my hands, and pushed the new one in and lightly tapped it until it was fully in.
