Make sure everything is clean for the gear oil silicone to stick. The gearbox is a split case. It is difficult to get everything in place and put the halves together.

Changing the bottom seal on a shaft driven GR mower deck. The factory uses a sealing adhesive that makes these gearboxes tough to seperate. I use a utility knife blade and hold it with vise grips at the seam. A couple light taps will start the case apart with minimal damage. Also, I use carb cleaner to remove the factory adhesive. Seams like removing the adhesive took the most time. The pulley can stay on the shaft and doesn't need removed to replace the seal. The bevel gears are shimmed for clearance and pay close attention during disassembly. the shims are different thickness. A good time to replace the input shaft seal too. 09500-20357
