Replacing the U-joints on the G1800 driveshaft was standard operation, no problems. Removing and installing the driveshaft in the tractor was a real pain. Almost had to remove the whole rear transaxle, until I finally found the trick to getting it out.

I hadn't changed a universal joint in decades, so I watched a YouTube video or two first, just to save some grief. My total time was the removal of the shaft and repair, then reinstall. As soon as possible, I would recommend spraying the joint with penetrating oil like PB blaster. Reapply during the process as well if needed. Once apart, a very good cleaning is recommended. Installing the new part, use care not to drive the joint too far, as this will cause the joint to be tight and will add friction. A good bench and a heavy vise will help you with the work, but not necessary. Other than tools to remove the shaft on your machine, a heavy hammer or small sledge, assorted sockets, screw driver, pliers and a few blocks of wood will be needed. Good luck.
