Kubota #K3151-14112 FAN, HST

Fairly easy job with the right tools, I put the rear tires up on 8"X8" timbers for ease of access, open the hood and tilt the seat, remove the access door and remove the two pinch bolts from the top and then from the bottom remove the three crankshaft bolts, remove the driveshaft assembly and replace the fan and make sure you install it in the same orientation, the printing on the fan goes towards the transmission, reassemble in the reverse order and torque all fasteners to spec. A large screwdriver can assist with turning the flywheel on holding it when retorquing.

For a ZD221 You must unbolt the two fan bolts and the 4 bolts that connect the shaft to the engine. After that you can compress the shaft to remove. Pay attention to the orientation of the fan blades (don’t reassemble backwards) and reverse steps to reinstall. The process is simple. Tricks are 1. Back onto a set of ramps to allow room to work and actually see what you are doing. 2. Small pry bar so you can manually spin the shaft, it’s easier to remove from the bottom of machine. 3. Prayer. This is a super tight area, you will say several curse words through this process, but you can do this.
