Due to the tension on this spring I need to use my leg strength to stretch the spring open. This is done by using an 8ft long 300 lb tensile strength cable hooked to the outside end of the spring. By sitting on the ground, supporting my feet to the side of the mower I can pull the spring open and have someone else just line the spring to the brace on the mower deck. By doing this I can replace the spring rather effortlessly.
