Stihl MS171 | MS211
The STIHL MS 171 and MS 211 chainsaws belong to the lightweight generation of STIHL chainsaws, featuring reduced emission technology, which brings significant benefits to users by saving fuel while reducing exhaust emissions. Both the MS 171 and MS 211 models are equipped with the STIHL pre-separation air filter, extending the filter's lifespan up to five times compared to previous models.

MS171 Features:
- Made in America: The majority of STIHL products sold in America are manufactured in the United States using both U.S. and global materials.
- Anti-Vibration System: STIHL has developed a system to minimize vibration levels in handheld outdoor power equipment, reducing operator fatigue and enhancing working comfort.
- Side Access Chain Tensioner: The side-access chain tensioner provides greater user convenience for adjusting the saw chain using a bar wrench, as opposed to the traditional location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
- Translucent Fuel Tank: The translucent fuel tank allows operators to easily check the fuel level before starting work.
MS211 Features:
- Made in America: The majority of STIHL products sold in America are made in the United States using both U.S. and global materials.
- Anti-Vibration System: STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
- Intellicarb Compensating Carburetor: The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged. It maintains the engine's correct RPM and uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and fuel flow. As the air filter becomes dirty and restricts air supply to the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This contrasts with typical carburetors that utilize air from the "dirty" side of the airbox.
- Ematic Lubrication System: When used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, the Ematic™ guide bar provides proper lubrication and reduces oil consumption compared to conventional methods. Two strategically placed ramps in the guide bar rail control the flow of oil, directing lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links, rivets, and driver holes. This can reduce bar oil consumption by up to 50%.
- Side Access Chain Tensioner: The side-access chain tensioner provides added convenience for users when adjusting the saw chain using a bar wrench, instead of the traditional location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
- Stihl Quickstop: STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system known as the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, designed to reduce the risk of injury in specific kickback situations. It is engineered to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator's hand or by inertia, especially if the saw experiences a kickback with significant force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, halting the chain's movement within fractions of a second.
- Master Control Lever: The Master Control Lever™ is a user-friendly, single lever that operates the choke, starting throttle lock, and on-off switch. Before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position, the operator must pull the throttle trigger.
