The valve is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine ignites.
- Stihl Elastostart: An exclusive STIHL feature, the ElastoStart™ starter handle includes a built-in shock absorber that lessens the effort needed when pulling the starter cord. It significantly reduces the abrupt peak forces (compression) typically experienced during cranking. The forces at the grip are smoothed out after the first compression stroke.
- Adjustable Automatic Oiler: The Adjustable Automatic Oiler permits users to fine-tune the lubrication for different bar lengths and cutting conditions.
- Pre-Separation Air Filtration System: This innovative technology amplifies the engine's filter system efficiency, effectively doubling the duration between air filter cleanings. Strategically placed ramps in the guide bar rail regulate oil flow, directing lubrication to the sliding surfaces of the bar and chain links, as well as rivets and driver holes. This can reduce bar oil consumption by up to 50%.
- Master Control Lever: The Master Control Lever™ is a user-friendly single lever that governs the choke, starting throttle lock, and on-off switch. The operator must first pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.
- Stihl Quickstop: STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury during certain kickback situations. This system, known as the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, is engineered to halt the chain's rotation if triggered by the operator's hand or inertia in response to a kickback force.
